First of all, I am FREAKING OUT...I just realized it's Friday the 13th. Freaky Friday, my friends. I am a little on the superstitious side -- no black cats, no under-ladder-walking, and no tube tops (EVER!). Anywho, since others might be Friday-the-13th-Phobic, I wanted to bring you some early holiday Cheer!! For my first Pop Pick of the Day I'm going to gloat, gush, and google (I couldn't think of another "g" word...sorry) over the Divine Miss M's FIRST holiday album "Cool Yule"! First of all, how can you go wrong with a Jew singing Christmas songs??!! I mean really...Babs, Barry and now Bette. Mazaltov!! But seriously folks, "Cool Yule" is that holiday album you've been waiting for ... big arrangements, Bette's vocals are better than ezra, and a perfect mix of bouncy newer songs and balading classics. There's a fab duet with Johnny Mathis and they both sound terrific ... she does a song by Steve Allen called "Cool Yule" that will make your toes, legs, fingers, head and everything in between tap and jingle. "I'll Be Home for Christmas," "What Are You Doing New Year's Eve?," "White Christmas," and, catch this, A HOLIDAY VERSION OF "FROM A DISTANCE"! It's a gay man's winter wonderland (oh, and straighties will love it to). If you buy it at Target you get an exclusive track of "I Heard The Bells On Christmas Day"! So run out and buy "Cool Yule" as it and she are simply Divine! I give it a 5-Pack of Pop (out of six). Happy Chrismahanakwanzakah!!
