Don't Saphira Through "Eragon"

First of all, Rox is the coolest cat in the world. Let's get that straight right now. However, every once in a while there's a bit of Dungeons & Dragons that rears its ugly head inside Rox (now, biatches, I have never actually PLAYED D&G, thank you very much). So, yes, I get into the Harry Potter books and I was tricked into reading "Eragon." I have to admit, Popsters, I was hooked by the literary version of this...a real page-turner, dare I say?! So, as with the Potter books I was anxious for the movie adaptation. Unlike the Potter movies which I found at least entertaining, Rox fell asleep twice during "Eragon." First of all, one of the key characters in the book "Brom" is so poorly miscast with the usually terrific Jeremy Irons that I really didn't care if he died (oops, did I just spoil something?). The newcomer Ed Speleers who playes the title character is good and will be a total stud in five years (Rox is not going to jail just because the guy rides a dragon and carries a big sword right now. Rox will wait.). Rachel Weisz voices the dragon "Saphira" which is pretty interesting animation but it's so odd "seeing/hearing" the dragon and her master "talk" through their minds -- it's like a really bad voiceover in an anime flick. Speaking of poorly cast, John Malkovich is in it and John Malkovich is Being John Malkovich. I almost laughed when he came on the screen as the most sinister of all Dr. Evils. As with any role, he appears completely bored with this turn, as if he wasn't sure if he actually got the role or was still auditioning (and Rox normally loves the guy). Long story short, you don't get involved with any of the characters and you don't really care if anyone lives, dies, gets covered in diamonds for eternity, or even rides the dragon "Saphira" bareback (please use protection if you're riding bareback, btw). Anywho, Rox suggests that you grab the book (yes, actually READ) and skip the movie which simply lets dragons be bigons. Rox gives "Eragon" the movie a 3-pack out of a six pack. Long live nerds and literature!!
