Super Bowl, a GAME???

So, Roxie has been trying to broaden my horizons and not just focus on POP culture ... and I've realized that you basically can tie pop culture into just about anything -- even those things that, just perhaps, you care very little about. Let's say hypothetically that Rox would rather have all of my upper teeth removed from my head while standing on it and whistling dixie out of my arse than to watch countless and endless games of America's supposed favorite past time (football, of course). However, I've heard tons of buzz surrounding the Super Bowl and I always thought it simply was an outdoor arena for some has-been performers to strut their stuff. I HAD NO IDEA THERE WAS A GAME BEFORE AND AFTER IT!!!!! I was shocked and mystified about this "game" as I thought people simply came out in droves to see things that included but are not limited to Aerosmith, Janet's 39-year-old nipple, and 500 soon-to-be-gay young men prancing around in solid primary colors. For instance, this year it's the piano man himself Billy Joel and the artist formerly known as "formerly known as" Prince. Frankly I got the research team here at Things That Go Pop to find out about when this "game" first started and why we knew nothing about it. Apparently it's been an underground phenomenon for a few years -- not unlike FUBU or perezhilton.com. So, if you, too, are amazed that Super Bowl Halftime is only PART of Super Bowl activities, you can log on to http://www.superbowl.com/ and be as equally amazed and enlightened as your dear, darling friend Rox. And don't think I don't know that the Cowboys are going to kick some major arse on Sunday....so there!!
