Rox Soap Box
Ok, darlings. I realize I have a blog about pop culture and the inside scoop on all things entertainment. However, my goal is never to harm anyone or especially kick them when they are down. I feel compelled to smackdown the entertainment press and media in general with how they all are handling the Owen Wilson story. At the heart of it I realize they are only giving consumers what we are demanding -- SCOOP. And for some reason I don't feel too badly about the Paris-bashing and Lindsay-Loathing that's out there because they've purposefully placed their personal lives at the forefront and not their talent (well, at least in Lindsay's case). There are very famous people that you don't know all the lame details of their every move -- Julia Roberts comes to mind. Yes we know she's married and she has a gaggle of kids. That's about it. Same with Reese Witherspoon, Anne Hatheway, Shia Lebouf...even the Zac Efron's of the world focus on their career vs. their indepth personal lives beyond who they are dating. With the tragic story of Owen Wilson's battle with depression and attempted suicide isn't there a point where we should just let him and his family heal on their own? I suppose it starts with us ... perhaps not picking up every magazine or going ahead and changing the channel. Maybe the media will get it, and then celebs will have a chance to deal with life a little more privately as it comes. Yes, I know, they have a "duty" as public figures and they do put themselves out there...I get it. However, when it comes to life or death struggles even they deserve a break. I'm jumping off now...best of luck, Owen. Love, Rox
