"Enchanted" Casts Spell on Holiday Box Office

Ok -- so Rox and the family all went to see "Enchanted" over the long holiday weekend. We had 10-year-olds to 60-year-olds (boys, girls, men, women) in our group and everyone absolutely loved the movie. And apparently so did $50 million's-worth of movie goers. If you haven't seen it you have to check it out if nothing to see the star-turning performance of its lead Amy Adams who plays an animated princess that literally and figuratively comes to life when she's band by her evil stepmother (played in drag by Susan Sarandon) to the places of all evil: Manhattan. This 2-D character, in white chiffon and matching tierra, must adjust to her new surroundings and her added dimension. It's basically Disney poking fun at their own cheesy, but very profitable, princess animation legacy. There is enough tongue in the cheek to make it endearing, clever and utterly charming -- Adams is an absolute delight and James Marsden plays the shallow prince charming to perfect (and he's H-O-T). McDreamy is his usual Patrick Dempsey adorable self but it's the CGI sidekick Pip who steals the show -- especially when he realizes he can't talk when he's in the 3-D world. It does seem like the movie is more for adults than children but all kids at heart are going to be thoroughly enchanted. TTGP gives "Enchanted" 4 pops out of a six-pack. And Amy Adams definitely is the belle of the ball!
