Apparently, darlings, you can't believe everything you read -- except, of course, on Things That Go Pop, natch! But apparently Queen Latifah getting engaged to her galpal Jeanette Jenkins is so not true. Her royal hip-hop highness poo-pooed unscrupulous internet media reports of a proposed forthcoming nuptial to her longtime trainer Jenkins.
"Oh my goodness you guys actually believe that," the Academy Award nominee legally known as Dana Elaine Owens told Chicago radio station Power 92. "You can't believe everything you read...there will be no major announcement made. The only major announcement I have to make is 'Merry Christmas.'"
Even the Chicago Sun-Times got in on the action, probing her about the rumor as she worked the red carpet to the premiere of her new movie 'Perfect Holiday' – in theaters Dec. 12. "When you're famous these days, it's just part of the deal - unfortunately ... People will make up all sorts of things that are not true. There ain't gonna be no wedding."
What I love about Queen's PR person is that she has trained her to address the question without ever addressing the issue of "is she or isn't she a friend of Ellen?" Well, done, Queen. Well done.
