GRAMMY STYLE STUDIO® 2009 TO BE HELD AT SMASHBOX STUDIOS, WEST HOLLYWOOD
SANTA MONICA, Calif. (Jan. 6, 2009) The sixth annual GRAMMY Style Studio® is The Recording Academy®’s official styling suite where nominees, performers, and presenters are invited to select one-of-a-kind pieces from leading international red carpet and lifestyle brands to wear to the 51st Annual GRAMMY® Awards — airing live on CBS Television Network from STAPLES Center in Los Angeles on Sunday, Feb. 8, 2009.
Held at Smashbox Studios in West Hollywood (formerly Quixote); home to fashion shoots of some of the world’s leading recording artists (including Fergie, Jay-Z, Madonna, Gwen Stefani, and Justin Timberlake), this 5,000 square foot space will be transformed into a fashion haven using elaborate furnishings from Cantoni, with musical equipment and décor from the Gibson Musical Instruments family of brands including Gibson, Epiphone, Baldwin and Kramer.
From Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2009 – Saturday, Feb. 7, 2009, private styling appointments for talent will be held between 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. daily. A media preview and artist interviews will be on Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2009, with additional appointments scheduled throughout the week.
Confirmed designers include: Halston, Vivienne Westwood, Giuseppe Zanotti, La Perla, Donna Karan New York, DKNY, Tommy Hilfiger, Roberto Cavalli and Sector watches, Ben Sherman, Moods of Norway, Toni Maticevski, Jil Sander Eyewear, Pennyroyal Silver, George Gina and Lucy, K-Swiss, Worn Free, Melamed, Grai Leather, DL1961 denim in addition to three of Elie Saab’s fellow Lebanese designers: Basil Soda, Georges Hobeika, and Nicolas Jebran will be debuting their spectacular collections at the Grammy’s for the first time.
Jil Sander will be launching their eyewear collection at GRAMMY Style Studio®, La Perla will be showcasing vintage dresses and Nudie Cohn's granddaughter has also designed some one-of-a-kind rhinestone embellished shirts for Worn Free using his old tools (Nudie designed clothes for Johnny Cash, Elvis, and Sly Stone).
Designers, Toni Maticevski from Australia, Basil Soda from Lebanon and Maya Yogev for Grai Leather will be in attendance.
VIP guests will also enjoy makeovers courtesy of Make Up For Ever, hairstyling by Rodney Cutler from Cutler Salon New York with InStyler hair tools being demonstrated by celebrity stylist Dean Banowetz, and skincare products from Kate Somerville.
