Roxie Needs Your Input, Popsters!!

So, last night Rox went to a going away party for a dear friend of mine -- we'll call her Anastasia for now -- at World Cafe in Santa Monica. It was quite a scene but no A-list celeb sightings (sorry, kids). The point I'd like to make is that it was January 6 and World Cafe still looked like a winter wonderland -- wreaths were adorned with lights and ribbons, Christmas trees were ablaze in all their holiday glory and the smell of evergreen (and Apple Martinis) could be sensed from outside -- presuming it was for the bouncers who were "freezing" in the 50-degree weather. Thankfully there was no Bing Crosby crooning "White Christmas" but you get the idea of the environment. The question I pose to you all is "when is Christmas actually OVER?"

I few years ago my partner in crime and I went to Mexico for a weekend getaway and we, of course, signed up for some massages to help melt away tension. As I was lying there in swaddling clothing and getting ready to be lubed up like a bimbo in a Crisco wrestling match, I tried to relax and go to a happy place. Then as the "therapist" was working out yet another kink in Rox's neck ... what to my wondering ears should be heard but the jingle jangle of "Silver Bells" coming out of the CD boombox (yes, "boombox"). For a minute I thought, "Rox, are you drunk with relaxation?" Then I realized, this biatch is playing Christmas music during my massage -- in MARCH. So again I ask you all "When the Hell is Christmas OVER??" Rox says December 26. Thoughts?

And, how long can one actually continue to say "Happy New Year"? I say January 8 (give or take). Please help Rox as I am not sleeping thanks to the argument that the sugarplums and the say-it-with-a-heart Valentine's candies are having as they fight for their own turf.

most Christian churches leave their Christ. decorations up until Jan 6 (or the closest Sunday to that date) which is called "epiphany"--the manifestation of Christ being seen by the 3 Magi--yes--in Jan!
That's why christ. carols are still sung in church until that date.--but I agree, no carols or Christ. music after Dec 26!

I always thought it was bad luck to leave Xmas decorations up in your house past Dec.31. They need to be put away by Jan. 1 (in my humble opinion...).

I say get the decorations DOWN before the end of the year. As for the music...it does make for a nice pick-me-up when one is feeling blue a needs a little motivation to "put one foot in front of the other" and remind oneself "there's always tomorrow". Listen to the holiday tunes whenever you wish- in private.
