Oh, Darlings ... it's been so long since Rox has been pleasantly surprised by a new CD from an established artist...Annie Lennox disappointed, Britney disappointed, Janet (oh, wait, is she still making music??). Anywho, I just listened to Seal's new "System" and it passed the 4-5 "keepers" test (if a CD has at least 4-5 good tracks on it that make Rox's toes a-tap then it's a keeper!)...working with dance-producer Stuart Price (the man behind Madge's "Confessions on a Dancefloor" disc), Seal has done what not many who have gone into dance territory have been able to pull off -- he's made it Seal-with-a-beat instead of trying to be someone he's not. The disc opens strong with Rox's favorites "If It's In My Mind" and "Amazing" and ends with two beautiful ballads "Rolling" and "Immaculate" -- the surprise here is the duet "Wedding Day" with his supermodel now-turned-singer? Heidi Klum. I know. I laughed too. However, what could be a cheesefest actually turns out to be quite a lovely moment on the disc -- she actually sounds more like Dido than Roseanne so kudos, darling! TTGP gives "System" a 4-pack out of six-pack of diet pop. Finally a disc that gets Rox's, well, seal of approval!
