Roxin' the Oscars!

So, Ellen might have been the host, darlings, but it was one former Vice President who seemed to be the talk of, well, just about everyone's speech. Mr. Gore was lauded by Leo, by Melissa and by the Academy while his "Inconvenient Truth" burned up the competition by taking home little Gold statues for Best Documentary and Best Song (Rox is sure that the three nominated songs from "Dreamgirls" probably cancelled themselves out no doubt). Speaking of "Dreamgirls" -- the best performance of the night was the medley of songs from "Dreamgirls" which included knockout performances by now Oscar-winner Jennifer Hudson (fantastic speech), multi-Grammy winner Beyonce (looking fabulous), Tony-winner Anika Noni Rose (can you believe the pipes on that liliputian?) and hot-to-trot Keith Robinson. Now, curiously, one song "Patience" actually was a song that Eddie Murphy sang in the movie so was he a no-show during the medley because he lost to "Little Miss Sunshine" himself Alan Arkin (Rox had predicted that Arkin should win but that Murphy would...pleasantly suprised, popsters)? And Rox also missed the mark on Best Actor with a prediction that Whitaker should win but that old-timer O'Toole would pick up the statue. Again, so happy Whitaker took home the prize and how amazing was his speech?? Rox did nail the Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actress, Best Supporting actress categories with "The Departed," Marty Scorsese, Helen Mirren, and Jennifer Hudson respectively winning. I thought Ellen was a perfect host but they should have used her more often instead of doing those incredibly boring special tributes to "American Film" and obscure composers ... mylanta georgia those were boring. And I have one thing to say about the Randy Newman/James Taylor performance. Oh, I'm sorry, I just fell asleep again...what was I talking about?? But how hilarious was the Jack Black, Will Farrel and John C. Reilly medley about the dissing of comics at the Oscars??!! A Freakin' Riot, dare I say?!Anywho, Cameron looked fantastic, George just keeps getting hottier and hottier but may I ask who duck-taped the ball of red toilet paper onto Nicole's right shoulder and forgot to tell her? I do want to adopt Abigail Breslin and Will Smith's son, as long as someone reminds me to feed and water them. Mental note, por favor. I also thought Robert Downey, Jr. was dirty-hot and hilarious, as well as Jodi Foster (why didn't she thank HER partner??). And can we simply have Daniel Craig and Hugh Jackman remain on stage for the 7.3 hour duration of the show?? Although the Oscar telecast was longer than Live 8, I was relatively pleased with the outcomes. The biggest question, well, two....1) when does Dreamgirls come out on DVD? and 2) what will Hudson's next move be in Hollywood because it will be an important one to prove that she can sustain the momentum? Congratulations to all the winners and nominees ... for a full recap, go to www.oscar.com or simply stay tuned to more Things That Go Pop!

I LOVED Ellen! She was hysterical...classic Ellen humor. I agree that the tributes were snoring, I mean, boring! I even fell asleep when Celine Dion sang! Loved Jennifer H, Will Farrell, Abigail B, Forrest and more. My vote for best dressed/looking would be Leo and Reese!

One can NEVER have enough Ellen! Have to also agree that the Trio was the highlight for me. Jennifer Hudson blew me away in "Dreamgirls". I was all tears when she sang...what emotion! Loved it.
