So "Bourne Ultimatum" took in $69 million last week for a big #1 spot and the biggest opening in the "Bourne" series. Let's see how it does today against another third installment "Rush Hour 3." But overall, this "Bourne" was a nail-biting tour de force that never lets you run to the restroom, darlings! The scenery is gorgeous and Damon has never been h-o-t-t-errrr and, yes of course, the story of this double-agent/secret agent/killing machine who has lost his memory is an interesting one that keeps us going throughout. Any many people are comparing this franchise to the Bond-James-Bond franchise but here is the greatest difference between the two money-makers -- and it will seem obvious and you will judge the Roxster and try to argue but please, darlings, don't. Anywho, we know who Bond is...we know he's a man-whore, we know he likes his martinis shaken, not stirred and we know he loves his country and his duty. We know nothing about Jason Bourne other than he has had a relatively crappy past several years. Now, this makes the movies very interesting but does it make me care at all about this robot? No. So, does the CHARACTER have enough to have audiences intrigued enough to come back now that we know who he really is and why he's so f'd up? I don't know. I do know however that Damon is laughing his arse all the way to the bank while his bestie is just hoping that Gigli 2 is in the works by fall '08. That being said, the "Bourne Ultimatum," although completely underutilizing Joan Allen and Julia Stiles, gets 5 cans out of a six pack for its sheer energy and some closure for this troubled superagent. Now, maybe a true, deep character can really be bourne...kisses.

Having long since forgotten the ins-outs-and-throughs of the first two installments, the future Mrs. Gomes and I Netflixed "Identity" and "Supremacy." "Ultimatum" is on the big-screen docket for next weekend.
Lots of action and not much talking....loved it!
