Lovers...if you've heard of Wicked then you've heard of Idina Menzel who won the Tony for playing the Wicked/Not So Wicked Witch Elphaba. If you haven't heard of Wicked then please turn off your 8-track and live a little! Now, yes she was in the original cast of "Rent" on Broadway (which is closing this year after a decade and a poorly executed movie version) and yes she is married to uber hottie Taye Diggs who currently is starring in the horribly executed Grey's spinoff "Private Practice." But I digress. Idina recently released her first major label album "I Stand" on Warner Bros, and may I tell you that 1) the girl can sing (think a rockier version of Christina and a way-cooler version of Celine and 2) the girl can craft some fantastic, melodic, thought-provoking tunes. As you may know, Rox has a "does it have at least five tracks that are fab in order for me to declare it worthy of purchase" ... well, "I Stand" has that and more -- and she wrote or co-wrote every tune except one (and that one was penned by this little singer named James Blunt). Rox's fave five are "I Stand," "Better To Have Loved," "Don't Let Me Down," "Forever," "Brave" and "Gorgeous" (yes, there's more than five!). If you want to have a CD that will make you think, sing and at the same time emote (yes, I said "emote") about lost love, current devotion and the power to believe in yourself (without ever having an American Idol cheese moment), then run to your local computer and purchase this album, darlings. Now! TTGP gives "I Stand" five pops out of a six pack. It's wicked good!
