No One to Mourn "Wicked"

Ok, so for years Universal has been trying to develop a script for Wicked – not the worldwide hit musical but the incredibly patience-trying book that the musical was based on – see, there was a sequel to that book and Universal had “franchise” in their eyes. THANKFULLY, someone had a brain and decided that perhaps more people would want to see a movie version of the biggest broadway musical in history – ya think? No, of course, Rox believes with every click of my heels that Idena Menzel and Kristen Chenowith should reprise the roles they originated as the Wicked With and Glenda the Good, respectively. However, there have been incredibly poor decisions known as “stunt casting” that have not worked out so well in the past (Rosario Dawson in movie version of Rent anyone?). And TTGP just got wind that Joey McEntyre, yes formerly of New Kids on the Block which has reunited recently to be the formerly New Kids on the Block which was formerly NKOTB which now is the middle-aged, poorly dressed New Kids on the Block…I digress. Anywho, the rumor is …Mr. McEntyre is in talks to join the cast of the movie based on the musical which is based on the book “Wicked.” He would be Bok…the love interest of both Elphaba and Glenda. Fine, whatever…but wouldn’t Taye Diggs or James Marsden be WAY hotter?? And what about Madame Morabel? Rox has genius casting for this…how about Liza with a Minelli? I know, I know, I am GENIUS! Or Megan Mullally…natch. And what about the wizard? Well, of course, Victor Garber…isn’t he the go-to homo actor who can sing AND act? And what about Nessa, the bitter, wheelchair-powered sister of the green girlie? Hmm…let’s see…it has to be an actress who can sing but doesn’t have to be coordinated in the least…Whitney? Mariah? No, no, no, all wrong…what is Deborah Gibson up to?? No, she’s paralyzed …she doesn’t have a lisp…that’s right. Ah, only in my dreams, am I right? Jennifer Hudson’s probably too big … but didn’t Scarlet have that horrible debut CD? Or what about Minnie? No, I have it!!! Playing the part of the appendage-challenged sister will be none other than Zac Efron! TTGP will have to see if HSM 784 will be wrapped by then…
