Um...What Does This Say about Us??

Sony's comedy "Paul Blart, Mall Cop" opened as the number one movie at the box office in North America, as strong word of mouth endorsements drove up attendance over the extended Martin Luther King Jr. holiday weekend, showed preliminary figures released on Sunday. The film, which stars Kevin James as a suburban father trying to make ends meet by patrolling a mall on a Segway scooter, took in an estimated $33.8 million over the three-day period. Media By Numbers, the Los Angeles-based box office tracking firm, estimated that the gross revenue of "Paul Blart, Mall Cop" went up 35 percent from Friday to Sunday. In the number two spot was last week's box office leader "Gran Torino," which saw a mild 25 percent drop since last weekend. The Clint Eastwood vehicle released by Warner Bros. took in 22.2 million dollars this weekend, with a total of 73.2 million dollars over two weeks in wide release and six weeks of limited display.
