Pop Props: Congrats to Christian/Pop diva Amy Grant for getting her Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. I went to her reception at CAA after the ceremony and while I was talking with Amy she got a tap on the shoulder. We look over and there was Tom "So In Love" Cruise standing there. We both were so stunned that all I could think of to say was, "Amy Grant meet Tom Cruise, Tom Cruise, Amy Grant." He was very gracious and apparently a big fan of Amy's music. And baby, baby it was soooo surreal... or would that be soooo suri-eal?? Hmmmm... (I took the photo of them, by the way ... Just call me Rox Leibowitz.) And if you are an Amy fan, she has an excellent new live CD (her first in 25 years) called "Time Again" out on Word Records. If you take a listen to this CD you'll realize why she will go down in history as the first Contemporary Christian artist to blow away the mainstream (she's sold more than 25 million albums worldwide and has numerous #1 and top 10 hits; she also has six GRAMMY Awards on her mantel). One listen to the CD and you'll be shocked at how many hits she's had and how insightful she is about the human soul. And she told me she's working on some new material that's "really cool and totally different than anything" she's done. She wouldn't give me any more scoop, dammit. Sorry, Amy, I mean, darn it. R
